We would like to invite any user to enter our home design contest.

You can create a home fitting one of two criteria

Exciting Theme Home:

Create a home that has an all encompassing theme, such as haunted house or secret base!

Classic Design Home:

Create a home that would fit as a standard room in a house, like a bedroom, or kitchen!

Once you have designed a home, write a message on either Chado (Pet: Pooter) or Square (Pet: Sushi)’s chalkboard, saying your username, pet name, and criteria you are entering for!

Rules

One entry per user. Contestants that enter multiple designs will not be accepted.

You must have a Twitter account associated with your Kawaii Pet MEGU account. This is so we can contact you privately if you have won.

• You must keep your home as the entry design until one of us comments on your chalkboard saying we have accepted your entry. Once we have accepted your entry you may change it.

• The house that we see once we visit your home will be considered your entry, so do not comment until you have everything set the way you like it.

• Please note that the use of rare furniture in your home is not a necessity. These homes will be rated solely on design, even if there are no rares included.

• Name and/or Pet name must use standard US keyboard characters so we may be able to search for you. Submissions from users who use emoji or other characters in both their pet and user name will not be accepted.

When entering the contest, you must put either a (1) after Exciting Home Theme, or a (2) after Classic Design Theme. This is how we know you have read the rules.

All entries must be submitted by 5/24/13 12am EST.

Contestants outside of the USA must have a PayPal account to be eligible to win.

We will review every home that has been submitted until 5/25, and will be picking 3 winners.

Each winner will receive one iTunes gift card valued at $10, so you can buy elixirs and voltamin or whatever else you please! Winners outside the USA will receive $10 through PayPal. Winners that fail to respond within 24 hours of being contacted through Twitter will forfeit their prize.

In addition, each winner will receive 3 random adventure items that have been released in 2013

Ever since I answered that anon regarding the upcoming Tomb Raider’s “rape” scene, I’ve received a lot of asks telling me that I am wrong and a horrible person for thinking that the scene is okay, and that I think rape is okay. 

Here’s the thing, I don’t think rape is okay. What I do think is okay, is creating a believable world where real things happen to real people. 

For those of you who don’t know, in Tomb Raider, there is going to be a scene where a stranded Lara Croft is spotted as she is hiding by one of the many scavengers on the island. In said scene, the scavenger pushes her against a wall and starts to touch her sexually, which obviously makes her uncomfortable. 

Immediately following this is Lara making the decision to take the life of this scavenger. This scene, to me, shows us that Lara is going to be faced with horrible situations, and that she is going to have to make difficult decisions in order to rectify an issue. 

Lots of fans are having some problems with this scene because they think that it is “reducing a whole gender to it’s sexual functions”, but that is simply not true. It’s painting a picture as to how brutal life on the island is going to be for Lara, and that she is going to have a lot of tough encounters.

What these people fail to realize, however, is that Lara Croft had always been a bit of a female trope, and that she was always hyper-sexualized.

Lara was originally portrayed as a sexy bad ass, in her short shorts, with her large breasts. People loved Lara this way, and didn’t think much was wrong with her. Sure, there were complaints here and there, but nothing to the caliber of the backlash this “rape” scene is getting. It’s unfortunate, because the Lara we see now has experienced so much growth from the Lara we met in 1996. 

Now we have a Lara Croft who is not overly sexualized. She is beaten up, she has a proportionate body, and she goes through hell and back in order to save herself and her friends. She is the strongest she has ever been, but now people have a problem because she is sexually assaulted on screen. 

The decision to have this scene does not mean Crystal Dynamics is “advocating rape”. Crystal Dynamics wanted this game to have a raw and disturbing feeling. They wanted you to feel the emotions Lara feels, even if those feelings are unsettling. 

Apparently the hobby makes sense sometimes…!! We are celebrating the arrival of our new friend, the stuffed ghost! Xmas came early this year!
